I think it wasn’t the best move on his part, even if he fights in Mexico he needs to fight someone worth while, he can’t afford to waste his time on non-champion/high end contender, and low money.

Antonio Margarito is very personal reasons for rejecting a fight with the American Shane Mosley.
In a crude attempt to discredit the world champion Antonio Margarito, who has fought and challenged the best exponents of the welter division, the U.S. veteran Shane Mosley via a press release called it “Rajon,” among other things, refusing to face the upcoming Jan. 24.
In this regard, King welter of the World Boxing Association, said “do not look for Mosley to continue with my career upward.”
Margarito, who is planning his revenge at the Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto in June 2009, as the promoter Top Rank, took the statements that Oscar De La Hoya made at the time, when he said that would face the winner of Cotto vs. Margarito.

Ricky Hatton brought 30,000 fans from Manchester to Las Vegas for his superfight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. so a return visit to Sin City for his junior welterweight matchup against Paulie Maignaggi was deemed a slam dunk. It’s beginning to look like the fight is closer to a brick off the backrim. The economy in Vegas is horrific and it may be worse in the U.K. A week ago, UFC 91 inhabited the same building drawing 14,272 and did a gate of $4.8 million. It also doesn’t appear that American fans are willing to pony up the bucks for back-to-back fight cards.
Gareth Davies from The Telegraph says Vegas is a ghost town. Because of the crashing pound the Vegas bargains are gone for the Brits:
Curbed by the recession and the pound falling against the dollar has made the stay here 25 per cent more expensive than 11 months ago.
The story is told simply by the numbers coming over from the U.K.:
By any normal standards, the 6,000 following is huge for a British fighter in America, yet taken in context of 57,000 attending Hatton’s ‘Homecoming’ fight with Juan Lazcano at the City of Manchester Stadium in May, and last year’s showing, the recession has taken its toll.

Trainer Billy Graham, in Las Vegas for the Ricky Hatton fight, is channeling Robert DeNiro this week. DeNiro as Lefty Rosenthal in Casino delivered the classic line about Sin City in the 1970s:
"It’s in the desert where a lot of the town’s problems are solved."
Graham recently dumped by the Hatton brothers, Ricky and Matthew, has come to the desert with the same goal in mind. He wants to exorcise some demons according to The Sun:
“I want to go out to Vegas to put it all behind me. I can then start going to fights and taking part in boxing again as a fan. I’m not some cold-hearted p***k who is just going to walk away without some kind of end. This is my chance to lay the ghosts to rest."
Graham says he has little interest in attending the fight but he doesn’t want to soak in the atmosphere:
“It will kill me that I’m not in the corner but it’s a chance to say goodbye to the British fans who go to the fights. I have not been going anywhere since the split. I have not been seen around by anyone. I want to go out to Vegas to put it all behind me. I can then start going to fights and taking part in boxing again as a fan."
There are some in the British media who think Graham’s appearance isn’t just some self-cleansing but an attempt to distract and screw with Hatton’s mind. Other are saying dumping Graham was pointless because the change to Floyd Mayweather Sr. will have no effect on a one-dimensional fighter like Hatton.

My uni halls block p2p, so streaming is a non starter, and even though there is a million bars and clubs in Newcastle, I have yet to find one showing the fight.

To me, feather-fisted as he may be, Paulie is a warrior.
It does take a lot of balls to do what he did against Cotto.
Paulie is also a site to see when he has both hands healthy.

Mayweather Sr added that the British public should expect to see a “new and improved” Hatton in Las Vegas.
“Malginaggi’s in hot water,” Mayweather told BBC Sport. “I can’t say anything good about him.
“He can run, but even that I would call a weakness. It’s not just a lack of power, it’s a lack of everything.”
Mayweather Sr, who replaced Billy Graham as Hatton’s long-term trainer following the Manchester fighter’s unimpressive victory over Juan Lazcano in May, added: “Malignaggi’s punches are like wind flying across your face.
“You can walk through his jab and he’s got nothing in his right hand. What’s gonna happen if he hits Ricky? It’s not like he’s going to swell up.
“And quick is timing, that’s all it is. Ricky can be slower than him, but he can time him every time he punches, and that’s what will make him as quick as Malignaggi, in fact even quicker.”

Hatton and Mayweather Sr, whose son Floyd Jr inflicted Hatton’s only professional defeat last December, have been in camp together for six weeks.
And Mayweather Sr said he has been “amazed” with how fast Hatton has adopted his methods.
“I can train anybody, slugger or boxer, and Ricky is willing to learn what I’m teaching him,” said Mayweather Sr.
“I’m teaching him still to be aggressive, but to be smart and not come in and take three punches for one.
“I said he was nothing but a punching bag against Floyd [Jr], and I don’t take that back, you saw it with your own eyes.
“But now the man’s moving his head and he’s making the other guy miss while he’s punching.
“I’ve been very surprised how quick Ricky’s learnt. He amazed me, especially being the type of fighter he is. He’s a slugger, but he started picking up the new stuff so quick, I couldn’t believe it.
“He hadn’t done any of the stuff in his life - jabbing to the body and jabbing to the head, feinting to the body and jabbing to the head, hooking off the jab. He’s doing it now.
“You’ve got to keep working at the trade and keep getting better. When you stop trying, it stops right there.”
However, Mayweather Sr also had a warning for Hatton regarding his lifestyle, which sees him balloon to well above his fighting weight between contests.
“What did for [Panamanian legend] Roberto Duran was his up and down, up and down between fights. And that can kill anybody - it will cut your career short.”
Meanwhile, Hatton, who will be fighting at the MGM Grand for the first time since his defeat by Mayweather Jr, claims “the twinkle in his eye is back” and that rumours that he was struggling to make the 140lb light-welterweight limit were false. BEN DIRS BLOG
It was Hatton’s presser by a wide margin, although it was his trainer landing all the significant blows
“People think that because I’m not with [former fitness trainer] Kerry Kayes any more I’m going to be Ricky Fatton again,” Hatton told BBC Sport.
“But I’m doing exactly what Kerry told me from a food and drink point of view and he’s still on the end of a phone for advice and I’m the same weight as I always am at this stage, about four pounds over.”
Hatton also admitted that he thought he “might be past it” following his fight against Lazcano, but that he is enjoying training again and thriving as a result.
Hatton said: “I had some wonderful times with Billy [Graham], but slowly but surely all the fighters left and in the end it was just me and Matthew [Ricky's younger brother, who fights Ben Tackie on the MGM Grand undercard].
“This time I’ve been training with a gym full of fighters and it’s been more fun, learning new things and working on new things.”
Graham, who has not spoken to Hatton since their split, is in Las Vegas, although he will not be attending the fight.
However, Hatton said his presence would not be a distraction, despite admitting he could not understand why Graham had come.
“He says he wants to come for the fight, but he’s not actually coming to the fight,” said Hatton. “He seems to have come over to come over. It is a strange one.”
